Been Under the Weather

The stomach bug hit our house this weekend.  First it was me.  Early Saturday morning, I began to have these gas-like chest pains.  I sort of ignored it and blamed it on my horrible diet.  Then I started feeling a little worse.  Then I felt nauseated.  Then I didn't make it to the bathroom.  (TMI.  Sorry.)

So after that I felt better.  I blamed it on my dinner the night before and thought nothing of it.  So we got up and did our regular Saturday morning routine.  Morgan plays, we get her breakfast, and all that good stuff.  A little while later, I began feeling just AWFUL.  Flu-like.  No energy whatsoever.  Vomited again.  Then I started feeling VERY flu-like.  I was finally convinced that I was SICK.

So my mom called that morning as she always does, and Danny shared with her that I didn't feel well.  Of course she dropped everything and made the hour-long drive to our house.  At that point, we decided that I should probably go to one of those doc-in-the-box places to see if I could get some kind of quick-fix shot -- particularly to protect Mo from getting it as best we can (I live right by one, so thankfully we didn't have to go far).  So when my mom made it to our place, I struggled to get myself up to shower and all of that.  She took care of Morgan while Danny and I made it to the doctor.  I got there and wasn't even bothered by the wait (that's how bad I felt).  Long story short, I was told I had a stomach bug (which apparently everybody has).  I'm guessing I was dehydrated since they put in an IV.  I left there feeling better.  Hydrated, I guess, so I felt I had some energy.

I can be very hardheaded sometimes.  Instead of going home to rest, I went home and tried to go ahead with my original plans.  Do some much-needed stuff around my house.  To no surprise, in no time, I felt horrible again.  So my mom stayed the night and kept Morgan while I rested.  (Danny went to watch our girls basketball team win the state championship!  Go Bucs!)

Then Sunday, I still felt icky.  Mom left for church, so I was glad that Danny's family was coming over that day.  His dad came over to help him fix a leak in our bathroom, and Morgan's Auntie Ash came over to see her.  So Morgan hung out with Ashleigh that evening while I rested a little more.

So all this time I'm obviously hoping that Morgan doesn't get it.  But I'm realistic.  I was prepared.  Especially since she'd insisted on kissing me a million times a day or two before.  And of course Monday morning, I notice that her demeanor was just a tiny bit different.  It wasn't obvious to Danny, and it probably wouldn't have been obvious to anyone else -- I guess all that mother's instinct stuff is real because I knew my baby was coming down with something, though she seemed to be completely normal.  So as I'm fixing her breakfast, she vomits all over the kitchen floor.

Right then and there I knew that she'd be home for at least a couple of days.  So since I was already dressed and practically ready to walk out the door, Danny and I decided that he'd stay home with her the first day, and I would the next.  And boy, did they have a rough day.  Long story short, he had to bathe her three times.  She laid on her daddy all day and just felt awful.  He called the pediatrician and they asked him to bring her in.  Of course she told him what we already knew, and she put Morgan on a Pedialyte diet.

So when I got in from work yesterday, she was laid out on her daddy.  And when I picked her up to hold her, she was sorta limp. :-(  It was bittersweet that through all of that discomfort, she was still happy to see me.

So we started giving her the Pedialyte in small increments, and she slowly began to get a litttle energy.  She played a little and even protested a little (like normal) at her bedtime. LOL.

So it's Tuesday night and I've been at home with my little bunny today.  Since she's not completely well and I'm still not 100%, I'll be staying home with her tomorrow, too.  Maybe we can both just rest this thing off.

I do want to say that I am so proud of Danny taking care of her yesterday.  He did SUCH a good job.  He even called me this morning to be sure I was on my Ps and Qs.  I had to remind him that I'm this child's mother...

Anyway, just wanted to share what we've been up to.  We're extremely blessed if the only thing we're dealing with is a stomach bug.  We're counting on being well by the weekend.  Less than two weeks 'til Spring Break!

Oh, and one more thing before I sign off -- we finally got the call (well, e-mail) from the school we've been trying to get Morgan in since October!  She starts Monday!  They've already emailed us so much helpful information such as the curriculum and schedule for her class and their March lunch menu.  Danny saw it and said, "Morgan, you're going to be eating good.  Daddy's coming to eat lunch with you every day." LOL.

Anyway, I hope everyone's having a great week!  And if you've been hit with this stomach bug, I hope you feel better very soon!

  1. Aw, you poor thing! Ben had the stomach bug a week or two ago; it's not fun to see our little babies like that. How sweet that dad took care of her. :)

I hope you're all feeling 100% soon. Enjoy your day off with sweet Morgan tomorrow!

  2. Girl, I hate that you guys have been to sick. It is going around and I am lysoling my self down... if there is a germ around, I will catch it. Hope you guys are feeling better today!
