Football Season Begins!

It's that time of year, folks, where the weekends are filled with football, family, and friends.  And my favorite -- FOOD! :)

We kicked off the weekend with our second Friday night game of the season!  Morgan loves the games because it means she gets to eat Dippin' Dots and run around the field afterwards.

When she gets super antsy during the game (which seems to be right after halftime), we pull out the ol' iPod, loaded with episodes of Team Umizoomi, Fresh Beat Band, and Dora.  It pretty much calms her down for the rest of the game.

Go Jags!

Then we got up early Saturday morning to tailgate for the Bama game.  I've talked many times about how my in-laws have the best tailgate ever.  I kid you not -- most folks would rather stay back at the tailgate eating and watching the game on TV than go into the stadium -- it's just that perfect. I can recall many times where my mother-in-law would walk around the tailgate asking who wants to go in the game with tickets in her hand, and most of us say, "No, thanks.  I'm good!"

But this time Jas and I decided we'd go in for a little bit.  We left before halftime because it was so hot!

Jas and Mo.

Some of Morgan's cousins on Danny's side came this week!

They had a great time, and Morgan loved having them there.

Our friends Kent and Martha brought their two boys and hung out for a while.

My MIL and Danny's Aunt Alice.

Danny Sr.

Cousin Ritha
(Whose child is that in the background with her sticky hands all over the cooler? Lord, that's my child...)

I saw my cousin Cassie and her hubby.

And Morgan got to see her friend Noah, who came to the game with his dad.

Good times!

Just a couple of fun facts to end the post:  Some would say I'm a little conflicted when it comes to who I root for in football.  :)  The high school where I teach played its rival Friday night, yet I was sitting on the other side.  Why?  Because now Danny coaches at the rival high school, so it's our household team (Go Jags)!  Also, I root for Bama, yet I have almost two degrees from Auburn. If you live in Alabama -- or know just a little bit about college football -- you know that this is a football sin -- they're one of the biggest rivalries in college football! I married into this Bama-crazy family (before meeting my husband 10 years ago, I didn't care either way).  Plus, my in-laws would surely take away my last name if I so much lifted a finger to cheer for Auburn.  It's not a biggie for me since my undergraduate degree is actually from neither school -- I'm a Bama State Hornet.  Confused enough? :)

Anyway, have a good week, folks!  Back to the grind in the AM...
