Gardens, Butterflies, and a Drama Queen

I'm coming off a steady weekend and a busy, busy day.  Summer school started today.  Even though summer school is pretty laid back, the first day is just like the first day of a regular school year: exhausting.

I was so wired from the day that instead of going to the playground or park after school, we went to a nearby botanical garden.  I needed some relaxing scenery and sounds to end the day. Luckily M loves the outdoors no matter what we're doing.  Monkey bars and slides or sticks and rocks -- doesn't matter to her. We had fun looking at birds, picking up sticks and leaves, and watching a family of turtles. I didn't have my camera, but M wanted me to take her pic on the "blue butterfly" bench with my phone.  She's a mess.

I have some posts to catch up on, so this may be another week where I'll post every day.  I wanted to go ahead and post these sweet little pics before I forgot them.  They're from last week.  Instead of going to the park in the middle of the day last week, we waited to go with DK to ball practice, which was early evening.  The park right by his school is one of our favorites.

Ha! Same shirt she wore today. :-)

My girl with her stick.  She ALWAYS has to find her a stick to carry around.  I think if we move to the country, she'll be just fine.

We always check out the lake and pond, and M usually finds rocks to throw in.
There was a little flower garden hidden in the corner of the park.

I had to stop M from taking this one away.

We tend to have drama when it's time to leave the park.  She never wants to go, so she'll sit down and ignore me until she realizes "I'm leaving with or without her." ;-)  Dra-ma.

A few of you sent me a response to the "tell me this (parent-to-a-drama-queen thing) gets easier" request.  Thanks for convincing me that this is just the beginning.  At least I've been warned.

May as well just keep it fun as we go through these stages.

Hope everyone's week started off great. :-)

  1. Looks like a great time...I like that she likes to explore!!

  2. She is so cute! We have three year old drama over here too. It's usually half hilarious and half exhausting. Good luck!
