Hello there, 2013.

Hey, y'all.  Happy 2013.  Farewell, 2012.

We had a good year.  God is so good to us.  I won't bore you with a recap of the year, but I AM grateful for all that 2012 brought - good and bad.

You got any resolutions?  I know it's kinda silly, but I like the idea of working toward something in the new year.  Here are just a few things I'm looking forward to:

Free Time.  I've spent more than half of this year working my butt off trying to finish this EdS degree.  And now that I'm done, I look forward to spending more time with my family and taking time for myself.  There are so many books to read, movies on Netflix, date nights with my husband, and games to play with my baby.  Now I can do all these things without a paper or project hanging over my head.  That feels SO good.

Taking Better Care of Myself.  I started running seven months ago and have seen it do some pretty cool things to my body.  I did it for stress-relief purposes, but was pleasantly surprised to see a few pounds fall off, too -- especially when I still had my same (awful) diet.  The last month or so I've let up a little, only running about four or five miles a week. And the last couple of weeks, I haven't really run ANY. And I feel it.  It shows, too (the belly is jiggling a little more than it was three months ago). I like the way I feel when I'm running regularly, so I look forward to continuing that this year.  Plus, THIS:

Baby Time?  I cannot tell you how many times I've been asked when we'll be giving M a baby brother or sister.  Or how many times I've run into someone I haven't seen in a while and caught them glancing at my belly.  It's so funny.  I, too, thought I'd be a mother of at least two by now.  But I've learned that I don't control any of this.  I never would have thought that I would have chosen to spend these last couple of years working toward another professional goal versus adding another member to the Krew. But I did.  And I know that's how God wrote my story.  While I'm in no rush (translation: we're not actively trying), I do think that by the end of this year I'll be ready to expand.  A 2014 baby for us? We'll see what God has in store.

Stay Organized.  I'm suuuuuuch an unorganized packrat, and I have been that way since I was a child (bless my mother). I've gotten a little bit better, but I'll continue working on it this year.  I'm starting to see it in my kid and it SCARES me.  I do NOT want her to be like me in that way!

Sell the House. We think we're ready to sell.  We've just got work to do.  The carpet needs to be replaced and the walls need to be painted.  There are a few other things to touch up and I DO NOT look forward to any of it.  But it's gotta be done.

Plan B (career-wise).  I'm a teacher and I absolutely love my job, but recently I was reminded about that little thing we call Plan B.  I could not imagine doing anything else, but I'm also smart enough to know that I MUST NOT lose sight of what's real.  None of this is promised.  One particular venture has been heavy on my mind lately, and I'm going to explore my options.  Let's just say it involves working for myself. Something I can work on WHILE I'm teaching. I'm not saying by the end of the year I'll having something concrete to show here, but I DO want to become more knowledgeable about the process.  Looking forward to learning.

Grow in My Faith.  I have a strong connection with The Lord, and I'm pretty territorial about it. I am turned off when I see the Word being molded to what particular groups want it to be, and that has prevented me from growing in a lot of ways.  I'm hoping to open up a little more in that way. I think it will be good for me.

So, yeah, these are just a few things I'll be working on this year. I think they're all pretty realistic. They all have wiggle room, which is I think is an essential part of a goal.

Anyhoo, I wish YOU a prosperous New Year.  I've seen so many people working hard toward their goals and so many beautiful things happening in so many lives.  God bless you all!

Let's rock 2013!
