Day at the Park ( + Prom at 17 & 30 )

Hey, peeps.  Hope everyone's had a good weekend.

Mine's been pretty good.  I've spent most of it at home in my PJs, so that's been kinda very nice.  I went to prom Friday night, then spent most of Saturday cleaning and finally watching the season's first two episodes of The Game.

M and her daddy went to DK's hometown for a day where he watched basketball games with his folks and M spent a day at the park with her cousins.

I just love this picture.  I wish we lived closer to DK's family because M has a lot of cousins (the children of DK's first cousins) that she just loves hanging out with.  I was just looking at a picture of all of them from two years ago, and it's amazing how they grow.

I know she LOVED this.

And I know this ice cream was gone in NO TIME. Ha!

So yeah, you read that right -- I went to prom Friday night... a CHAPERONE, of course (hence my not-quite-so-prom-y look).

This was my first time chaperoning prom in the seven years I've been teaching. We're required to chaperone two events each year, and the prom has never been one I've chosen. I didn't even want to to go my own high school prom, so I've never jumped at the opportunity to attend one as an adult.  (I actually skipped my junior prom and only went to my senior prom because I didn't want to regret it one day.  My boyfriend at the time was a couple of years older, so thankfully he had no problem attending a prom two years after his own graduation.)

Anyhoo, I decided to chaperone a new event this year.  I asked DK to take a picture of me because I really like this dress.  It's kinda old -- I wore it three years ago to my class reunion -- but I still like it (and I guess ruffles are still in).  My favorite thing about this dress, though?  It has POCKETS.  A dress with pockets is a little piece of happy for me, y'all.

Anyhoo, I'm gonna get back to my lazy Sunday. I heard a great service this morning (as usual), spent the rest of the morning cleaning (as usual), and will now relax for the rest of the day (not so usual, so this is a treat).  After my little helper and I make a quick dinner, I have an episode of Grey's and Scandal waiting for me on DVR.  I may even do a little reading, too. I'm gonna raid my kitchen for unhealthy snacks and just chill. Not sure the day could get any better.

Check back in a couple of days for a few more vacation pics.  My sis-in-law texted me some that I want to to save to my blog (and share with you, of course).

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, folks!

PS - That beer on the mantle (my cluttered mantle, by the way) isn't mine. I only drink before work/work-related events on Mondays because it just makes the day easier. (I kid. The beer is my husband's, though. I don't even like beer.)
